The One Human Race Initiative (OHR) is a ministry of the Union of Black Episcopalians, Myra McDaniel Chapter. They create a safe, open, and productive environment for everyone to learn and share about race. OHR conducts workshops based on the PBS series “Race: The Power of an Illusion.” The workshop is designed to be a safe and welcoming place to learn about the origins of systemic racism in the United States and to explore pathways to personal and institutional change.

Client had a need to develop four large training modules (approximately 45 minutes each), in a very short amount of time. Since they would be provided to the entire sales force, they wanted a design that would capture the learner’s attention combined with a high level of interactivity.
A large pharmaceutical company wanted a series of games to test the knowledge of their 1500 sales team members at a national sales training event. The event was held on a cruise ship for three days of a 7-day cruise. One of the biggest challenges was how to get that many people through each day in a limited amount of space.
The laws requiring websites and online training to be accessible have become more clearly defined. However, many clients are not aware of these laws and the need to have training materials that are accessible to people with disabilities. I developed this micro-learning to inform clients of the laws regarding accessibility and explain what it means to create accessible training.
When using the Design Thinking methodology, two of the key elements during the analysis phase are to understand the real need and identify the best solution. Then work together using a rapid-development approach by coming up with ideas and implementing them with quickly designed prototypes. Then you review the prototypes with the client to determine what works and what doesn’t, then try again. This process helps you identify the best solution and not just “a solution”.
