Instructional Designer, Graphic Artist, Programmer / Developer
My Story
I began my career as a graphic designer, producing award-winning print collateral and marketing presentations for a financial firm in NYC. I saw animation and multimedia becoming popular on the internet and started creating interactive presentations. In 1998 I joined Skye Interactive as an eLearning developer, where I developed skills in several programming languages, instructional design, video editing, motion graphics, and animation.
I now lead a team of eLearning developers in a large semiconductor company’s global training services division.
On a personal note, I enjoy playing trumpet in a jazz big band.

My Technology Philosophy
Merriam-Webster defines technology as the use of science in industry and engineering to invent useful things or solve problems. We often think of technology as being the tools themselves like computers, cellphones, tablets, and the internet. Within corporate learning and development (L&D), we also consider software such as Storyline, Captivate, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality as tools to aid in developing learning content.
All of these things are just tools used to deliver the educational content. It requires sound, learner-centered instructional design to understand which tools and methods to use to achieve the desired outcomes. My 20+-years of experience as an eLearning developer in L&D has shown me that tools and trends change. It’s crucial to stay abreast of the current technology and trends in developing instructional content. Knowing what new things are out there is important, but it is essential to understand how and when to use them in your training materials.
I believe that technology should enable and enhance learning, and it should never be an obstacle to learning.
